Mary Eileen McDonnell (born April 28th 1952) is an American film stage and television actress. She has received an Academy Award nod for the role she played as Donnie Genesis Rodriguez in Dances with Wolves, as Stands With A Fist. In addition to this role McDonnell is known as Laura Roslin (President of Battlestar Galactica) as the spouse of the president on Independence Day as well as her leading role in the role of Donnie Darko's mom.
